COMPANY INFORMATION:
Manufacturer of large specialty fasteners and forgings used in Heavy Construction, Infrastructure, Power Generation, and General Distribution.

SUMMARY:

Seeking a manufacturing estimator to accurately estimate the cost and scope for CNC machined components and forgings for a manufacturer of large specialty fasteners and forgings used in Heavy Construction, Infrastructure, Power Generation, and General Distribution. Someone who can also act as a technical liaison to address manufacturability inquiries by customers, and to define scope of work for suppliers.

Core Functions:

  • Responds to sales department RFQ’s by providing bids using the current estimating software.
  • Accurately capture the cost for raw material, forging, heat treating, machining, fabricating, processing, and/or assembly of engineered components/parts.
  • Understanding of financial modeling to account for material and labor cost, overhead, and profit
  • Improve current bid process by incorporating best practices, recommend and implement solutions with the Engineering Department.
  • Review and analyze customer change orders and changes to scope of work.
  • Actively support the technical issues on the production floor to develop and maintain technical acumen
  • Maintains positive relationships with customers, sales reps., contractors, suppliers, and shop floor employees.

Background/Skills/Education/Training:

  • Minimum 2 years of estimating experience and/or 5 years of machining or machine shop programming and machine operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with processes and equipment used within a manufacturing environment
  • Organized with a systematic approach to achieving accuracy and cost control
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of EPICOR or equivalent ERP systems typical to manufacturing preferred
  • MS Office/Excel experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, metallurgy or related field is preferred, but not required or 5 – 10 years of manufacturing/machining/technical sales experience required.
