CUSTOM FORGINGDyson Corp’s long history began in 1884 as a specialty forge shop. Today, it can reshape a wide variety of metals to comply with a wide variety of customer requirements. Custom forgings at the facility range from 1/2 to 10,000 pounds, and in small batch quantities to large volume runs.
Dyson can forge virtually all material grades and materials including carbon, stainless, tool-grade and exotics. Its forge shop features large mechanical and hydraulic forging presses for large and specialty forged products, and a hammer press that enables them to produce very large diameter nuts (5.0″+).
All tooling is designed and made in-house. In-house heat treating, special torch cutting machines, automatic lathes, media blasting and finishing fulfill your secondary requirements. Dyson works to forging specifications including ASTM-A668, MIL-S-24093, MIL-S-23284, ASTM, SAE, ASME, Military & Federal standards, ISO, AASHTO and custom specifications.
MACHININGWith a 40,000 square foot machine shop, and manual lathes up to 80″ long, Dyson Corporation has a full range of machining capabilities to ensure they maintain entire control of your project from beginning to end. The Company’s CNC’s feature horizontal and vertical milling, and they employ some of the most skilled, certified machine operators and programmers in the industry.
By performing its machining in-house, it’s able to streamline production, giving its customers better lead times, higher quality and lower costs. In addition to its CNC machines, its extensive in-house primary and secondary machining operations include: Lathes, Milling, Drilling (including deep hole drilling), Broaching, Thread Rolling and Cutting, Sawing, High Speed Nut Tapping and additional machining operations available through Dyson-Approved Partners.
HEAT TREATINGAnother great in-house capability of Dyson Corp’s is its state-of-the-art non-atmospheric heat treat department, featuring five on-site quench and temper furnaces – up to 10,000 pounds and 16 feet long.
Dyson has a draw furnace for high speed nut forming, with stand alone heat treating also available. Some of the Company’s heat treating processes include: Normalizing, Annealing, Stress Relieving, Drawing, Quench & Temper, Solution Anneal, Carbide Solution Treating and Age Hardening.
Additional processes and heat treat logs are also available. Dyson’s dedicated heat treat supervisor has 20+ years of experience, and ensures only the highest level of product quality at all times.
